CALIFORNIA BUILDING A PRESENCE
PROJECT DATES: June - September 2003

California Building A Presence, developed by the National Science Teachers Association, aims to help reduce teacher isolation by enlisting and supporting science educators through an online network of "Points of Contact (POC)" in every public and private school in California. WestEd hired me as a freelance contractor to design and build the CABAP web site as part of the solution to the problem.
During the exploration/design phase of this project, I wanted to choose a color scheme that reflected the natural environment that can be found in the state of California: orange, green, and beige colors. In addition, special attention was paid to usability and section 508 guidelines, both important factors when creating content for government sponsored programs.
The final product is a fluid design template (made for cross-platform/cross-browser compatibility) that delivers a compelling user experience for the intended audience. The client (WestEd) was very happy with the design solution for CABAP.
